Jordan, officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Arabic: 'المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية), is a country in the Middle East. Jordan is located east of Israel and the West Bank (part of the Palestinian Territories) with the Jordan River and the Dead Sea (a salt lake) as its boundary. Furthermore, the country is located next to Syria in the north, Iraq in the northeast and Saudi Arabia in the southeast. It has access to the Red Sea in the south through the Gulf of Aqaba. The capital is Amman.
